MEMORY VERSE: Luke 18:24b “How hardly shall they have riches enter into the kingdom of God.”

TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
To let the children know that:-
1. God expects the rich to help the poor.
2. Those who are attached to their riches cannot enter the kingdom of God.

CENTRAL TRUTH
God expects the rich to help the poor.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. A certain ruler asked Jesus “what he should do to inherit eternal life.”
2. Jesus told the ruler that only God is good.
3. He also told him to keep the commandments.
4. The ruler told Jesus that he had kept all the commandments from his youth.
5. Jesus then told him to sell all he had, to give to the poor, and he would have treasures
    in heaven and then he should follow Him.
6. But the ruler was sorrowful when he heard what Jesus told him to do, because he was very rich.
7. When Jesus saw that he was sorrowful, he said how hard it is for those who have riches to
    enter the kingdom of God.

LIFE APPLICATION
We must trust in God and not in our possessions, we must also help the poor with our riches
then we will inherit the kingdom of God.

MESSAGE OF SALVATION
When the people asked Jesus who can be saved? Because the rich man became very sorrowful
when he was told to give his possessions to the poor. Jesus’ answer implied no one can be saved
by his own achievements, but God can do what men cannot. Salvation cannot be earned;
it is God’s gift (Ephesians 2:8-10).

CONCLUSION
Riches and everything we have come from God. If God tells us to help the poor let us do so,
then we would inherit eternal life. As we also obey the commandments of God.

CHALLENGE
To inherit the kingdom of God, it is very important that we obey God’s commandment and help
the poor with our riches.

Receive the gift of God today Salvation. And you would inherit the kingdom of God.

1. Why was the ruler sorrowful? The ruler was sorrowful because Jesus told him to sell all he had
    and distribute unto the poor, was sorrowful for he was very rich.
2. How can we have eternal life? By receiving the gift of God – Salvation and also obey
    God’s commandments.
